Natural, Effective, and Lasting Solution for Pain Relief
Move past the temporary fixes for your pain. Pain Treatment MD brings PRP injection, a groundbreaking development in regenerative medicine. PRP, the short form for Plasma Rich Protein, is a natural solution to treat pain and improve functional movement. Wondering what PRP is? Think of it as a natural repair serum formed by using a small sample of your own blood, which is processed into a concentrated, platelet-rich solution. The solution is packed with healing growth factors and is injected into the affected pain site to promote healing.
All the pain treatments, including PRP at Pain Treatment MD, are led under the expert supervision of Dr. Sameer Jain, double board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional pain physician and neurologist.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrated solution made from platelets of your own blood. These platelets are super- rich in certain growth factors and bioactive proteins that play an important role in the body’s internal repair system. Through PRP injection, these healing factors are directly injected into the pain site affected by injury. As a result, a regenerative process is triggered that repairs damaged tissue, strengthens weak structures, and reduces inflammation. PRP reduces your pain and discomfort by directly addressing the root cause and the result, lasting pain relief and comfort.
PRP procedure is a structured multi-step clinical process spanning around 45-60 minutes of duration. Here are the steps:
1-Blood Sample Collection: Your doctor will collect a small amount of blood from your arm, exactly similar to how you get a blood test at a lab done.
2-Concentrate Preparation: Your blood is placed in a high-speed centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other components of blood.
3-The PRP Injection: Guided imagery is used to deliver the concentrated serum into the targeted pain site with accuracy and precision.
Platelet-rich plasma injections are a versatile conditions treatment option. They are highly effective for a variety of chronic and acute pain conditions and musculoskeletal issues:

Dr. Sameer Jain is a Double Board-certified Neurologist and Interventional Pain Physician. He has dedicated his entire career to treating patients with chronic pain. His knowledge and skills in managing chronic pain, honed through years of experience, instills confidence in his patients and colleagues alike.
Dr. Jain’s journey to become a Pain Physician began when he came to Philadelphia to continue his education. His keen interest in neuroscience led him to pursue a Neurology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine. It was during this training that he became fascinated with how even a slight disturbance in the neurological processes of the body can lead to chronic pain and cause immense suffering. This fascination led him to pursue a fellowship in Pain Management at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Most patients feel just a quick pinch when we draw their blood and a bit of pressure during the injection. Local anesthetics are being used to minimize discomfort. You may experience mild soreness afterwards, which you will manage easily.
For PRP, Insurance coverage can vary and is often limited. But you don’t need to worry about it. Our team is here to help you understand the costs and go over any insurance or self-pay options before your PRP appointment.
Plan for about 60–90 minutes. This time period includes check-in, blood draw, PRP preparation, the injection itself, and a short observation period afterward.
Initial improvement is seen within a few weeks after PRP. But the full benefits of PRP usually develop gradually over a few months as your tissue heals.
Yes, it can! PRP often works even better when paired with treatments like physical therapy, exercise, weight management, and other pain-relief approaches.
PRP promotes long-term tissue repair by natural healing. In contrast, steroid injections provide prompt but short-term relief. Steroids don’t repair tissue and can’t be repeated frequently. PRP may be used when steroids are no longer effective or to limit steroid use.
This depends upon the symptoms and severity of your condition. Your overall health assessment also plays an important role in deciding the number of PRP sessions. Some patients feel good just with one injection, while others may require 2- 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart. At our clinic, Dr. Jain creates a personalized plan based on your response to the first treatment.
If you’re dealing with joint, tendon, or chronic musculoskeletal pain and want to learn if PRP injections could help, we’re here for you.
