Disc regenerative therapy is an emerging treatment approach aimed at repairing and regenerating damaged intervertebral discs in the spine. These discs act as cushions between the vertebrae, and when they degenerate, it can lead to chronic back pain, reduced mobility, and other spine-related issues. Regenerative therapies focus on restoring the structure and function of these discs rather than merely managing symptoms.
Disc Regenerative Therapy is an important treatment option for individuals experiencing chronic back pain or discomfort due to spinal disc issues. This therapy is designed to address the underlying causes of disc degeneration or damage, aiming to restore spinal health and alleviate symptoms more effectively. Disc Regenerative Therapy can be particularly beneficial in the following situations:
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Dr. Sameer Jain is a Double Board-certified Neurologist and Interventional Pain Physician. He has dedicated his entire career to treating patients with chronic pain. His knowledge and skills in managing chronic pain, honed through years of experience, instills confidence in his patients and colleagues alike.
Dr. Jain’s journey to become a Pain Physician began when he came to Philadelphia to continue his education. His keen interest in neuroscience led him to pursue a Neurology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine. It was during this training that he became fascinated with how even a slight disturbance in the neurological processes of the body can lead to chronic pain and cause immense suffering. This fascination led him to pursue a fellowship in Pain Management at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Disc Regenerative Therapy is generally a safe procedure. However, like any other medical procedure, possible side effects may include temporary discomfort at the injection site, mild inflammation, or an allergic reaction to the injected materials. Your Pain doctor will discuss any potential risks associated with the treatment before starting.
The recovery process after disc regenerative therapy is typically quick. Most of the patients return to their normal activities within a few days. Specific instructions about the post-treatment guidelines, which include activity recommendations and modification with care, will be provided to you by your treating physician.
Many patients describe the treatment experience as just mild pressure, but not extreme pain. As the protocols followed in the regenerative therapy are nonsurgical and non-invasive, no general anaesthesia or hospital stay is required.
Every back pain condition has its own unique intensity. Typically, it takes 2-6 weeks for you to see significant relief in symptoms. However, this timeline is also variable depending on your health status, compliance, and condition; you may see immediate effects. The guidelines will be briefed in detail by your treating Physician.

After years of pain, Dr. Jain finally listened and helped. Other doctors said nothing could be done since I refused strong pain medications or surgeries that would leave me with a metal bar in my back. Dr. Jain was so kind, and I’ll forever be thankful for him, his staff, and the care they provided.
My first visit was mostly to understand my situation and history, so not much could be done. However, Dr. Jain was very kind and understanding. He got the ball rolling for me by scheduling physical therapy and giving a referral. He was also empathetic about my pain, listened closely, and really seemed eager to help me.
